Dilermando Pinheiro achieved his greatest success as a performer with the songs "Seu Libório," composed by João de Barro and Alberto Ribeiro, along with "Risoleta" from Raul Marques and Moacir Bernardino. Together with Ciro Monteiro, he maintained the Dupla Onze on the airwaves of Rádio Mayrink Veiga, scoring successes through "Florisbela" by Nássara and Frazão, "Formosa" penned by Baden Powell and Vinícius de Moraes, and "Até Amanhã" written by Noel Rosa.

He took up the pandeiro at age thirteen within the Military Police band. The distinctive style he later adopted, involving striking a straw hat during performances, originated from his acquaintance Luís Barbosa. His radio career began in 1936 at Rádio Guanabara, with subsequent appearances on Tupi and Nacional. By 1939, he had established Dupla Onze alongside Ciro Monteiro for broadcasts at Rádio Mayrink Veiga. The duo's initial recording, Sambas Do Passado, appeared in 1956. Following a period of neglect lasting until 1965, Sérgio Cabral revived their presence through the production of Telecoteco Opus No. 1, a performance also featuring the former collaborator Ciro Monteiro and issued on disc. In addition, he cut an LP alongside trombonist Raul de Barros, as well as seven further albums.
