Dino Govoni stands out among today’s saxophonists for his striking range and adaptability. He studied under tenor masters Jerry Bergonzi and George Garzone before enrolling at the College of Music to deepen his technical foundation. Soon afterward he began extensive touring, performing and recording with a wide array of artists that includes Grover Washington Jr., Randy Brecker, Terence Trent D’Arby, Robben Ford, Mel Tormé, the Manhattan Transfer, the Boston Pops, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, the John Allmark Jazz Orchestra, Frankie Valli, and Englebert Humperdinck. In May 2000 Govoni joined the star-studded 25th-anniversary concert presented by Arista Records, appearing with Aretha Franklin in New York City. The following year he released his debut album, Breakin’ Out, on the Whaling City Sound label. He currently serves as assistant professor of woodwinds on the faculty of Berklee College of Music and maintains an active schedule of private students.
