Biography
Disaster Strikes came together in Boston back in 1999. Through a series of self-released cassettes and constant performances across the East Coast punk scene in the United States, the group gradually built up a dedicated audience. Several members previously played in outfits such as the hardcore band Tree. Drawing from acts including Dead Kennedys, Crass, and Econochrist, they crafted an intense, politically charged variety of hardcore that incorporates multiple elements. Their initial trio of recordings—a 2000 split release alongside Fallen Short, Drunk With Power from 2001, and Anthrax on the Dance Floor issued in 2003—appeared via Rodent Popsicle in restricted runs. In July 2006, Alternative Tentacles, the renowned label, put out Liberty Toast, marking the band's first full-length album, which Steve Austin of Today Is the Day produced.
