Biography
In 1994 Disengage first assembled as a side project, paying tribute to Black Sabbath and Black Flag while introducing their own dark, a-tuned guitar riffs to the college town of Kent, Ohio. The group recorded a handful of demos, landed opening slots with Unsane and Filter, and completed an East Coast tour before relocating to Cleveland, where they issued their debut EP Exhaust in 1996. Backed by Cambodia Recordings, the band soon delivered its first full-length album, Teeth, Heart and Tail, in 1997.
