Diskonnekted serves as the performing name for Belgian electronic body music artist Jan Dewulf, whose approach draws from both industrial rock and electronic dance traditions. Residing in Ostend, Belgium, Dewulf first entered music production during the mid-1990s under the name Mildreda. Following the year 2000 he expanded his take on EBM and launched Diskonnekted as a separate outlet for that evolution. His initial Diskonnekted release arrived in 2003 via the Dying Culture imprint in the form of the album Jesus Raves. Dewulf then entered an agreement with Alfa Matrix, the label responsible for issuing his follow-up full-length Neon Night in 2005 together with the related 11-track EP After Einstein that same year, the latter consisting primarily of remixes. Further Alfa Matrix output under the Diskonnekted banner comprises the joint EP Frozen with Dive from 2006 and the third studio album Old School Policies in 2008. Although Dewulf operates Diskonnekted chiefly as a solo studio endeavor, live shows incorporate the additional performers Christophe "Hitman" Salvatore, Didier "Snake" Salvatore, and Schidde.
