Distinguisher, a Las Vegas metal band, unleashes successive waves of dark deathcore shaped by hardcore and nu-metal. The group appeared in the mid-2010s and issued an EP plus its first full-length album, What's Left of Us, alongside its original vocalist. After signing with Stay Sick Recordings in 2019, the band added a replacement singer and released Hell from Here.

The initial quartet consisted of guitarist/vocalist Josh Bearden, bassist Brad Cornelius, drummer Jacob Barsoum, and founding singer Joshua Wilson. Drawing on their shared interest in nu-metal and deathcore, the musicians shaped a menacing fusion defined by ferocious drumming, angular riffs, and vocals that moved between raspy growls and raw shouts. Their opening single, "Deadweight," surfaced in 2014 and later appeared on the 2015 EP Helpless. Self-released in February 2017, the debut album What's Left of Us was produced by Mike Sahm (Chelsea Grin, So This Is Suffering). That record marked the final release with Wilson, who subsequently departed. Between the two albums, Distinguisher signed with Stay Sick Recordings and enlisted vocalist Nick Chance in early 2019. Working once more with Sahm, the quartet tracked its sophomore album, Hell from Here.
