D.J. Akira

In nations boasting vibrant techno communities, women behind the decks remain uncommon, yet D.J. Akira from Japan belongs to this select circle after exchanging her prior work as a softcore porn actress for time at the turntables. Her releases, including Groove Machine from 1997, Timezone in 1998, and Tokyo 2000 issued in 1999, showcased an evolving trance-infused techno approach that shifted toward greater dancefloor accessibility.
