Biography
While attending school, Andy Smith—who would go on to serve as Portishead’s DJ—first encountered the group’s frontman Geoff Barrow. The acquaintance eventually placed him in Barrow’s touring lineup as support DJ. Live appearances alongside the Fugees, Republica, and Prophets of the City soon followed. His first mix album, The Document, surfaced in early 1998. Five years passed before the sequel arrived, yet The Document II delivered the same range and intensity as its predecessor.
