Leterrance Davis, who grew up in High Point, North Carolina, later performed as the DJ and rapper Luke Nasty. While playing saxophone during his high school years, he became a member of the 336 Boyz, a quartet shaped by the Atlanta snap sound popularized by Dem Franchize Boyz and D4L. The crew issued two albums, I Told You So in 2010 and Full Cups and Empty Bottles in 2012, prior to Davis completing his studies at Winston-Salem State University in 2013.

His debut solo effort, the smooth and unhurried Highway Music: Stuck in Traffic, contained the explicit single “Might Be,” a seductive freestyle that incorporated Anderson .Paak’s sample of Xscape’s “Who Can I Run To.” Issued in September 2015, the track entered the Billboard 200 and reached the top of the Rap Airplay chart in early 2016. Later that year he delivered the Boom Boom Room EP, a set of dance-oriented cuts that included the single “OTW” featuring 2 Chainz.

Cruise Control, his 2018 return album, showcased appearances by DaBaby, Rotimi, Boss Bundles, and G. Yamazawa. The single “Bread” followed in 2019.
