DJ Nesty

Ernesto Padilla, born in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico, works as the reggaetón producer DJ Nesty and has maintained a close working relationship with the superstar duo Wisin & Yandel. He entered the studio in the early to mid-2000s as an associate of the hitmaking team Luny Tunes. Recording simply as Nesty, he stepped out on his own in 2005 with two notable singles: “Chulin Culin Chunfly,” credited to Voltio and Residente of Calle 13, and “Eso Ehh...!!” by Alexis & Fido. The next year he supplied beats for the high-profile releases King of Kings by Don Omar and The Underdog/El Subestimado by Tego Calderón, among them the latter artist’s hit “Los Maté.” At roughly the same moment Nesty forged a lasting tie with Wisin & Yandel, shaping much of their 2006 album Los Vaqueros and its singles “Pegao,” “Yo Te Quiero,” and “Nadie Como Tú.” He stayed deeply involved with the duo on later projects, handling the majority of Los Extraterrestres in 2007—including the chart-topping single “Sexy Movimiento”—and La Mente Maestra in 2008, an effort that listed him on the front cover.
