DJ Python merges spacious, smooth synth pads with fractured rhythms rooted in dembow to create his signature deep reggaeton aesthetic. The producer, who calls New York home, earned acclaim throughout the underground dance scene for the 2017 album Dulce Compañia and the 2022 release Club Sentimientos, Vol. 2. He has also collaborated on the 2022 EP Corazón with Ela Minus and formed the group Sangre Nueva alongside Florentino and Kelman Duran.

Brian Piñeyro, who resides in Queens’ Ridgewood section, issued material under multiple aliases prior to adopting the DJ Python moniker. In 2014 he cut an extremely limited single together with Circuit des Yeux, then delivered a lo-fi house 12-inch as DJ Wey the following year. His debut DJ Python EP, ¡Estéreo Bomba! Vol. 1, surfaced in 2016 on Anthony Naples’ Proibito label. Throughout the remainder of that year he put out further EPs under the names DJ Wey, Luis, and Deejay Xanax that fused deep house, breaks, and electro. Dulce Compañia, Piñeyro’s first full-length under the Python name, inaugurated Naples’ Incienso imprint in 2017. The album refined the sound of the earlier Python EP with greater depth and immediately succeeded, marking Piñeyro as one of his generation’s most inventive producers. A more club-oriented follow-up, the 2019 EP Derretirse, appeared on the Dutch label Dekmantel.

Python contributed a track to Ghostly International’s Ghostly Swim 3 compilation and reworked songs by Klein Zage and Carmen Villain before issuing his second album, the continuously mixed Mas Amable, on Incienso in 2020. Sangre Nueva’s first outing, the 2021 EP Goteo, was followed in 2022 by the three-track Club Sentimientos, Vol. 2. Piñeyro and Anthony Naples co-curated the ambient collection Air Texture VIII, while the Corazón EP with Ela Minus came out on Smugglers Way and the Luis EP 057 (Schwyn) appeared on AD 93. Sangre Nueva also returned with the single “Moskito”/“Tu Forma.”
