Dodheimsgard

Dodheimsgard operated as a Norwegian black metal act that adhered to a more conventional style, marked by raw aggression, seething ferocity, and vocals that often remained difficult to decipher. Its founding configuration consisted of Aldrahn on guitar and lead vocals, Fenriz supplying bass and backing vocals, and Vicotnik behind the drum kit. The group’s moniker evokes notions akin to “kingdom of death” or “world of specters.” Its first album, Kronet Til Konge, appeared in 1995; once Fenriz exited the fold afterward, the lineup absorbed Apollyon, formerly of Aura Noir, and Alver, who had previously played bass in Emperor, to complete the follow-up effort Monumental Possession. Both releases were initially tracked for Malicious before Century Media handled their American reissues in 1999.
