British singer/songwriter Helen Ganya Brown, working under the name Dog in the Snow, crafts wintry dream pop that merges ethereal textures with art-rock and electronic flourishes alongside introspective lyricism. After issuing her first album in 2017 she joined the Bella Union roster, which issued the follow-up Vanishing Lands two years later.

Brown entered the world in the U.K. to a Thai mother and Scottish father, then spent her childhood in Singapore before relocating back to England. She eventually made her home in Brighton, where she devoted herself to songwriting and studio work. Drawing from the shape-shifting approaches of Scott Walker, Sufjan Stevens, and David Lynch, she completed her debut full-length Consume Me as Dog in the Snow; the regional indie Battle Worldwide put it out in 2017. The record’s commanding vocals, considered compositions, and unsettling dynamic shifts attracted Bella Union founder Simon Raymonde, who both added her to his label and invited her to perform with his ensemble Lost Horizons. Bella Union then released her second album, the haunting Vanishing Lands, in 2019.
