Biography
Italy’s Rovena-based quintet Dog Soldier transplanted the textures of southern rock and blues onto European soil. Under the leadership of guitarist Bruno "Brak" Rosetti and his son, drummer Igor Rosetti, the ensemble applies a distinctly continental inflection to material drawn from Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatcher and the Allman Brothers Band. In March 2001 the group captured first place in the cover-band contest at Italy’s Max Cover Festival.
Since forming in 1998, Dog Soldier has undergone repeated lineup shifts. Of the founding members, only the elder Rosetti continues with the band. Present frontman Sergio "Gigio" Deggiovaanni, guitarist Leonardo "Dallo" Dall'olio and bassist Gabriele Liverani all previously performed with the Italian rock outfits Soundblast, Unable and Sotterranei.
Rosetti and Liverani further collaborate with former Dog Soldier drummer Settimio "Smec" Garavini in the Jimi Hendrix tribute project Ezy Rider.
