During the 1990s, experimental Chicago musicians Neil Rosario and Rian Murphy channeled their efforts through Dolomite. Early on, the group issued EPs dominated by chaotic soundscapes shaped in the studio by Steve Albini. Thrill Jockey eventually added them to its roster and put out the album Acetate/The Gift Horse in 1994. Noise still defined their approach, though they had refined it into material that felt both approachable and enduring. Once that record appeared, the pair turned to separate endeavors until they reconvened for a stretch of recording sessions scattered across multiple studios. The sessions produced Easter Someday, a unified blend of post-rock and 1970s rock that drew favorable notices from critics. The band seems to have dissolved afterward, since both musicians have continued working on unrelated projects without any indication of resuming their collaboration.
