A bachata performer based in the United States, Domenic Marte works as a singer, songwriter, and producer whose style incorporates a gentle pop sensibility; he stepped forward as a solo act in 2004 through Sony Discos and quickly accumulated multiple entries on tropical airplay rankings. Rooted in Massachusetts yet tied to Dominican lineage, he issued his first full-length project, Intimamente, that year under the shortened billing Domenic M, a name he would soon set aside in favor of his complete moniker. The record produced several charting singles, starting with “Ven Tú,” which climbed to the Top Ten of Billboard’s Latin tropical airplay chart, while the follow-ups “Ella Se Llevó Mi Vida” and “La Quiero” also registered, reaching the Top 20 and Top 40 positions on the same tally. At roughly the same moment he appeared on a pair of tracks from fellow Massachusetts artist Bylli Crayone’s self-titled 2005 album, most prominently the song “Toyfriend.” Two years later he returned with his sophomore effort, Deseos de Amarte, whose title track duplicated the earlier success by landing inside the Top Ten of the tropical airplay chart, joined by a more modest follow-up single, “Con los Ojos Cerrados.”
