Biography
Argento pursued his training at the Peabody Conservatory as well as the Eastman School, later joining the faculty of the University of Minnesota as a professor. He helped establish the Minnesota Opera, the organization for which he created his central body of operatic works. Among them, the widely familiar Postcard from Morocco dates from 1971. His output also earned notice in the areas of song cycles and choral music.
