Though Dominion follows an erratic pattern when issuing new material, allowances are easily made because Andrew Szava-Kovats routinely devotes his energies to three concurrent endeavors: Data Bank A, Compound and Parade of Sinners. A native of Massachusetts, Szava-Kovats entered the field as far back as 1983, issuing six Data Bank A recordings on the German label Subtronic Records throughout the remainder of that decade. Late in the 1980s the Parade of Sinners undertaking surfaced as well, producing three albums that appeared exclusively on cassette.

The Dominion lineup first assembled in 1985, yet its inaugural full-length, Manhunt, did not surface until more than four years afterward on the Belgian imprint Kk Records. The follow-up, Lost, appeared twelve months later via the American company Cargo, after which Szava-Kovats shifted focus to his Compound identity and delivered two albums for Dossier in the first half of the 1990s. Only in late 1997 did he revisit Dominion, resulting in Only the Strong Survive on Metropolis Records.
