Don Henry

Recognition came to Don Henry once Kathy Mattea's recording of "Where've You Been," which he co-wrote with her husband Jon Vezner, collected every major honor in 1990 and 1991. Raised in the suburbs of San Jose, CA, Henry relocated to Nashville in 1979 and devoted the next four years to duplicating tapes for the publisher Tree International, later known as Sony/Tree, before joining its songwriting roster. Compositions he created for Mattea, John Conlee, T.G. Sheppard, and Conway Twitty preceded his receipt of Tree's Writer of the Year award in 1990 and the release of his own debut album.
