Biography
Before releasing his debut solo album, The Land Beyond the Mountains, in 2002, Howland had already performed as singer-guitarist with the Gibson Brothers and the Bassholes. Its tinny production yields a grim fusion of psychobilly, swamp rock, and Captain Beefheartian avant-garde weirdness, filled with strange and unsettling images that recount troubled encounters and stories through a note of wild-eyed glee.
