Don Johnson

Following the enormous popularity of his TV show Miami Vice, actor Don Johnson ventured into pop music and issued his first album, Heartbeat, in 1986. The title track reached the Top Five, and the opulent, feature-length Heartbeat video—an extended narrative production—also proved successful, featuring Paul Shaffer, the sidekick and musical director from Late Night with David Letterman. Johnson's recording career stalled after the disappointing sales of 1989's Let It Roll, yet he stayed in the public eye and later starred in the police series Nash Bridges.
