Biography
Emerging from Toronto, the tween girl group Done with Dolls trails closely behind the popularity of Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers. The quartet came together in 2008 with sisters Jordan Miller on bass guitar and Kylie Miller handling vocals and guitar, alongside Eliza Enman on drums and Megan Fitchett on guitar. Their start traces to the Millers' father enrolling both daughters in guitar lessons when they were six and eight years old. At first the Millers teamed with Fitchett and two brothers under the playful name Sisters Others and Brothers, shortened to SOB. After that lineup dissolved, the remaining members recruited their classmate Enman through an audition, which led directly to the creation of Done with Dolls. The group's songs deliver light versions of teen angst that stay wholesome for parental approval while adding enough depth and edge to attract listeners beyond the youngest giggling fans. Their lyrics focus on predictable topics such as boys, arguments with friends, and family matters, yet the melodies and arrangements draw more from the Go-Go's or fellow Canadian pop-rock artist Avril Lavigne than from the Spice Girls. In February 2009 the band issued its self-titled debut EP amid considerable media attention and backing from major sponsors including makeup company Rimmel and fragrance firm Coty, marking their initial expansion beyond Canada.
