Donor

In the Netherlands, a progressive thrash outfit called Donor emerged during the early 1990s but lasted only briefly. Their intricate musicianship and the shrill delivery from vocalist Ard van Bers evoked comparisons to the renowned Watchtower out of Texas for those familiar with the sound. Established in 1990, the group included guitarists Bart Vreken and Jelle Bakker along with bassist Cees van Petten and drummer Toni van Petten. They secured a deal swiftly with the Belgian indie label Mausoleum, issuing their first album Triangle of the Lost in 1992 before delivering Release two years later. That second record brought in vocalist Richard Dijkman as a replacement, yet Donor dissolved the next year, prompting guitarist Jelle Bakker to establish the alternative metal act Frozen Sun.
