Biography
Don’t Be a Stranger originated in 2002 when Liv Widell encountered sisters Louise and Christina Weibull, merging moody and melodic tones as if Portishead were a Swedish pop band. The three convened once a month for informal sessions in a remote village in rural Värmland, continuing that routine for a full year before committing to a more serious endeavor. They chose their name from a line in the film The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, added drummer Johan Forsman, and relocated to Stockholm in 2005. Local guitarist Konie Ehrencrona joined alongside bassist Mattias Albinsson, resulting in the release of debut EP Ho Ho before the year ended. Their album Frutti di Mare appeared on the Cheap Lullaby label in 2009.
