Don't Worry, a quartet from Essex, fused emo-tinged indie rock with the everyday struggles of British existence on their first full-length release, Who Cares Anyway?, issued in 2018. The group adapted the confessional approach heard in outfits like the Smith Street Band, Modern Baseball, and the Hotelier, reshaping it with a clear British inflection. Formed in 2014 in the Essex town of Harlow, the band rapidly gained traction within the U.K. underground D.I.Y. punk community. They put out their opening EP, Dance with Me I'm Dyslexic, late that year and spent the following months performing widely throughout the country, returning with their follow-up EP, Feel Your Bones, in 2015. Maintaining their independent approach amid university commitments and road dates, they delivered the double A-sided single Pillow/Chester Draws in early 2016. That August the group entered Crooked Rain Studios in Leeds alongside longtime associate Bob Cooper of Nervus and Self Defence Family to track their third EP, Bane of My Lifestyle. After expanding their live activity with a U.K. tour alongside London punk outfit Lightcliffe and a subsequent European run in early 2017, they rejoined Cooper to lay down material for their debut album. The band then aligned with the British independent label Specialist Subject, which also housed Fresh, Muncie Girls, Caves, and Shit Present, before unveiling Who Cares Anyway? in mid-2018.
