Biography
Initiated at the start of 2017 by Kyle Shutt, the guitarist from Sword who resides in Austin, Texas, Doom Side of the Moon stands as a doomy stoner metal homage to Pink Floyd, timed to mark the half-century milestone of that iconic English psych and classic rock group. The lineup features Shutt alongside his Sword bandmates Bryan Richie on bass and Santiago Vela III on drums, with additional contributions from vocalist Alex Marrero of Brownout and Brown Sabbath, saxophonist Jason Frey from Black Joe Lewis and Hard Proof, and keyboardist Joe Cornetti associated with Croy & the Boys; together they issued their self-titled first album in August 2017, which delivers a full reinterpretation of the 1973 Pink Floyd masterpiece Dark Side of the Moon.
