Biography
Cuban vocalist Doris Lavin received acclaim from trumpeter Lázaro Herrera, who placed her among the enduring Soneras of salsa and thereby aligned her with the stature of Celia Cruz and La Lupe. Having first secured steady demand as a performer throughout Cuba, Lavin moved to Italy in 1996, yet the relocation left her performance calendar undiminished. Collaborations on stage have linked her with Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Félix Valoy, Patato Valdés, and the Conjunto Folklorico Naciónal De Cuba. Her self-titled debut album, which included appearances by Dagoberto González and Alain Pérez, appeared in 2003.
