Biography
During a 2008 tour backing the live version of Gnarls Barkley, session players Josh Klinghoffer and Clint Walsh first conceived their own project. Handling vocals, guitar, and keyboards themselves, the veteran sidemen recruited two fellow California session musicians—bassist Jonathan Hischke and drummer Eric Gardner—to round out Dot Hacker. The quartet launched sessions for a dreamy alternative-rock debut right away, yet progress stretched across several years once Klinghoffer signed on with the perpetually active Red Hot Chili Peppers in 2009, restricting his availability. Working only when calendars aligned, the musicians finished a self-titled EP in 2012 and followed it later that same year with the full-length album Inhibition. Two companion records, How’s Your Process? (Work) and How’s Your Process? (Play), appeared in 2014, the same year the group played its first concerts. Nº3 arrived in 2017.
