Biography
Jerry Doucette picked up the guitar at age eight and, three years afterward, joined his first group, the Reefers. After that band dissolved he relocated to Toronto, where he performed with Brutus, Trybe, Southco, the Seeds of Time, and Rockette Morton. Settling later in Vancouver, he formed a backing unit—drummer Duris Maxwell, bassist Don Cummings, guitarists Brent Shindel and Jimmy Butler, plus keyboardist Mark Olson—and issued recordings as Doucette. Mushroom Records issued Mama Let Him Play in 1978, followed the next year by The Douce Is Loose. Jerry Doucette died on April 18, 2022, at age seventy while receiving treatment for cancer.
