Biography
Doug Burr came into the world in 1972 in Dallas, TX, and was raised inside a Southern Baptist household whose lingering spiritual presence has continued to color his work as a singer and songwriter of uncommon resonance. He first picked up the guitar at sixteen and had begun composing songs by eighteen. Roughly a dozen years spent on home recordings, open mikes, church performances, and coffeehouse gigs across the Dallas-Fort Worth area preceded his decision to front the roots rock band the Lonelies. In 2003 he independently issued The Sickle & the Sheaves, an ambitious and atmospheric gospel concept album produced by Deadman's Steven Collins that circled the themes of birth, death, and renewal and drew substantial critical notice. The equally impressive On Promenade arrived in 2007 from Spune/Velvet Blue Music.
