Biography
Hailing from San Diego, Dr. Chunk ranks among the more distinctive nu metal acts for its avoidance of standard formulas while revealing clear affinities with vintage thrash. The quartet consists of vocalist Tighe Werntz, guitarist Eric Beard, bassist Jeff Simpson, and drummer Mikey Niel, the last of whom also serves in the power metal band Cage. Their self-titled debut arrived in 2002 and earned notice for its promise after being mixed by Steve Russell, an associate of P.O.D.
