Felipe and Cote Foncea, siblings of the Chilean soul singer Pedro Foncea, united to launch the rap-metal outfit Dracma. Their sound fuses distorted guitars, bone-crushing intensity, and politically charged rap lyrics, quickly establishing the band across Latin America. A standout appearance at Colombia’s Festival of Rock before more than one hundred thousand fresh listeners ignited further interest, leading the group to draw worldwide notice through its inaugural international outing, the Rock To Pack Y2K tour of 2000. Recognition followed in the form of a Grammy award for Best Latin alternative rock group together with an MTV Latin America People’s Choice award.

The Foncea brothers absorbed early influences from African-American acts such as Kool and the Gang, The Parliament-Funkadelics, and Earth, Wind and Fire, alongside metal groups including Twisted Sister, Metallica, and Panther. Their initial collaboration took place inside the early-90s rock ensemble De Kiruza; when that project dissolved in 1992 they founded Dracma. From 2001 onward the band has focused its efforts on university audiences. Following a set for students at the Catholic University in San Joaquin, Chile, they launched the Rock To The Patio tour, offering gratis performances on campuses throughout South America.
