Biography
Emerging from Queens, the indie pop quartet Drawing Boards fuses rich sonic layers with abrasive edges. Their foundation lies in an initial studio collaboration between vocalist and guitarist Aaron Pfannebecker of Sisters and vocalist and drummer Doug Marvin of Dirty on Purpose. Drawing on common touchstones that include R.E.M., Television’s Marquee Moon, and the fiction of Joan Didion and Jenny Offill, the pair crafted guitar pop marked by melody, wistfulness, and occasional sharpness. Guitarist Peter Rynsky from Darlings and bassist Jane Herships from Teen later joined to solidify the lineup, prompting live performances across New York. The band’s self-titled debut appeared in March 2018 on Baltimore indie Gentle Reminder.
