Formed in the mid-'80s, Dreamboy operated as an R&B/funk outfit that landed a deal with Quincy Jones' Qwest imprint through Warner Bros. distribution. The roster featured vocalist Jeff Stanton, guitarist Jeff Bass, keyboardist Jimi Hunt, plus George "Dewey" Twymon handling both bass and drums. The members first assembled while attending Oak Park High School in Oak Park, MI. Their only charting single arrived in the shape of the ballad "Don't Go," which reached number 17 R&B on Billboard's R&B chart during the first months of 1984. A second ballad, "I Promise (I Do Love You)," followed and peaked at number 45 R&B by autumn of the same year. Jeff Bass and his brother Mark would later figure prominently in shaping Eminem's early career trajectory.
