The Drifters, a Swedish dansband whose roots extend to the 1960s, first achieved widespread mainstream recognition in 2008 via the Top Five album Tycker Om Dig. Established in 1962, the group experienced repeated membership shifts across the decades and began as an exclusively male ensemble before incorporating female vocalists. A mid-1990s configuration fronted by Marie Arturén enjoyed moderate traction, highlighted by the 1994 release Nästa Gång Det Blir Sommar. Momentum accelerated sharply after Erica Sjöström joined as lead singer in 1999. Born June 30, 1970, Sjöström made her recorded debut with the band on På Begäran (1999) and appeared on the subsequent albums Om Du Vill Ha Mig (2002), Det Har Jag Ångrat Tusenfalt (2004), Kärleken År Inget Spel (2006), and Ett Liv Med Dig (2007). That last project marked the group’s strongest chart performance up to that point, peaking at number 31 on the Swedish albums chart and paving the way for the 2008 breakthrough release Tycker Om Dig: Svängiga Låtar Från Förr, which climbed to number two.
