Biography
In 1997 the Cincinnati, Ohio outfit Drop Shadow coalesced around a volatile blend of unfiltered industrial and hardcore aggression. The core lineup—Ben Petry on bass and vocals, Tim Kindberg on guitar, Mike Gruber on keyboards, and Kris Swain handling drums and percussion—supplied the group with sharpened technical command and combustible melodic hooks. Their explosive, high-energy concerts quickly earned widespread notice and allowed Shadow to cultivate a sizable audience in short order. After three years of intense performances across the city and neighboring states, the members turned their attention to recording a debut album. Blue arrived in stores in 2000, its production and mixing handled entirely by the band. Since that release Drop Shadow has established itself as an emerging force within Cincinnati’s industrial scene.
