Drummer

Patrick Carney, the drummer from the Black Keys, conceived of Drummer in February 2009 as a project uniting several fellow percussionists, yet ensuring that none of them would handle the kit. With his Keys bandmate Dan Auerbach away on tour, Carney seized the chance to collaborate with Ohio-based drummers who switched instruments: Jamie Stillman of Teeth of the Hydra and Harriet the Spy handled guitar, Jon Finley of Party of Helicopters covered guitars and vocals, and Stephen Clements of Houseguest played keyboards. Carney himself switched to bass, while the four moonlighting percussionists brought in Greg Boyd of Ghostman & Sandman to supply the group’s drumming. Working with engineer Ben Vehom, the five-piece tracked their debut album Feel Good Together, which surfaced that autumn.
