Rock dominated DSTRCT's early listening, prompting him to lay down initial recordings on a laptop until hip-hop captured his attention during high school. Once he exited college, he committed to rapping on a full-time basis, which eventually drew the notice of prominent producer Mustard and led to a deal with 10 Summers Records. The single "O.T." arrived in November 2022 ahead of Installation001.
