Biography
Jamaican producer Clement "Coxsone" Dodd, best known for ska, rocksteady, and roots work, adopted the Dub Specialist alias to compete with King Tubby, Scientist, and other dub artists who favored cryptic names. During the mid-'70s he issued dub albums such as Better Dub, Mello Dub, and Zodiac Sounds on the Studio One label, most appearing in minimal packaging that later changed with reissues or bootlegs. Heartbeat returned to the Dub Specialist catalog in 1995 via the compilation 17 Dub Shots from Studio One and again in 2008 with the plainly titled Dub.
