Biography
In 1997 piper Chris Walshaw teamed up with hurdy-gurdy players Nigel Eaton (b. 3 January 1966, Lyndhurst, Hampshire, England) and Cliff Stapleton to launch a short-lived ensemble devoted to original pieces rooted in English and French folk dance forms. Cittern support came from Ian Luff on the project’s lone album, English Hurdy-Gurdy Music, whose fresh approach to the dance repertoire placed particular weight on the interlocking rhythms supplied by Eaton and Stapleton’s instruments.
