Biography
Dillon van Rensburg, performing as dvr, is a Scottish singer and songwriter whose lo-fi bedroom pop fuses indie rock with rap. At only 16, the North Berwick native self-released his debut EP (tape_01) in 2020, a collection built on woozy, scuffed-up beats, low-key indie rock, and strands of rap and R&B that earned early streaming attention. That project drew the interest of influential American producer Kenny Beats, who agreed to work with him. Freshly signed to XL Recordings, dvr delivered the 2021 slacker anthem “Lowlife,” a catchy midtempo cut helmed by Beats that spread virally and later appeared on the 2022 EP dirty tapes.
