Biography
Growing up amid the Pacific Northwest's landscapes, Dylan Jakobsen developed a sound that fuses grounded country-rock textures with his distinctive rugged vocals and introspective storytelling approach. A Washington native, he first honed his skills in rock before turning toward country, a shift that led him to Nashville and the independent release of his debut album, From Where I Began, in 2016. Two further independent projects followed—2019's I Am and 2021's Set Fire to the Night—while he performed across North America and the U.K., steadily expanding his audience. Later singles encompassed the 2024 tracks "All of Time" and "American Nights."
Jakobsen was raised in Snohomish, a modest Seattle suburb, where he took up guitar and additional instruments. Moving from early rock touchstones such as Pearl Jam and Bon Jovi to rock-leaning country figures including Eric Church and Chris Stapleton, he forged a songwriting identity centered on earthy, fervent material that bridges the two worlds. Already an experienced road performer by his early twenties, he issued From Where I Began independently in 2016; the album spawned the modestly charting single "Silverado" and positioned him as an emerging country artist. Extensive touring throughout the U.S. and U.K., along with support dates for Chase Rice and Eli Young Band, preceded his 2019 follow-up I Am, which leaned slightly more toward pop. Momentum continued with 2021's Set Fire to the Night, highlighted by singles such as "Six" and "Don't Ya Think?" His subsequent emphasis fell on standalone releases, among them the romantic "All of Time" and the patriotic anthem "American Nights" in 2024.
