Anthoney Hart, a London resident, directs the grime endeavor East Man. He labels his approach "Hi Tek," and full-length releases like the 2018 album Red, White & Zero deliver the genre in its most unvarnished and straightforward form through sharp, forward-looking rhythms, forceful contributions from multiple guest MCs, and a total lack of pop-oriented choruses. The productions evoke U.K. pirate radio aesthetics, while the words reflect divisions of race and class across London alongside street-level conflict and the fight to endure.

Hart entered the world in Hastings during 1979 and carries experience from pirate radio during the rave years. Beginning in the late 2000s he has issued material in noise, drone, industrial, and experimental techno under the Imaginary Forces name, then launched the Basic Rhythm alias in 2016 to handle his lean, dancefloor-oriented output. East Man's first album, Red, White & Zero, came out via Planet Mu in 2018 and featured raps from Killa P, Darkos Strife, Kwam, and additional MCs. The EP Stop Flapping Your Gums, Vol. 1 launched the Hi Tek Sounds label. In 2019 the "Horse Mouth" 12" appeared alongside Walton, as did the Eastern Code EP on Padre Himalaya. Stop Flapping Your Gums, Vol. 2 surfaced at the start of 2020, while the follow-up album Prole Art Threat landed in July with writing from Ny Ny, Streema, and Mic Ty. The all-instrumental Hi Tek Music full-length reached listeners in 2022.
