Biography
The origins of Echocast lie in a Tennessee ensemble known as Seven. Guitarist Adam Redding and vocalist David Mast, brothers who made up part of that group, faced ongoing challenges in locating and retaining capable drummers and bassists. The siblings later assembled the album Supernova under the name Redline, with Freedom Records issuing the project in 2000. Redding covered bass parts in addition to his guitar work for the recording. Redding and Mast soon added drummer Jaren Johnston and bassist Sean Clark, completing the roster that became Echocast. Clark had previously handled guitar duties in Valid. Secure in the revised configuration, Redding and Mast directed the band through a North American tour. The trek produced seven singles from Supernova along with two television appearances. XS Records released Echocast’s debut effort Where the Future Ends, produced by Butch Vig, whose prior credits include work with Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, and Garbage.
