Biography
The six members of Eclipse first connected through their participation in a public relations and ambassador-oriented ensemble tied to the Programs and Entertainment department at Utah State University. They started out crafting vocal arrangements of well-known tracks and delivering them at campus venues and throughout the Logan region. Rising demand and additional bookings prompted the creation of their debut album, Once, issued in April 2001.
After its release, the ensemble turned its attention toward broader recognition and successfully auditioned for the Northwest Regional Harmony Sweepstakes Competition. They captured first place, which secured an invitation to the National Competition in May 2001 alongside the eight other regional champions from across the country.
Within Utah, live performances and new associations continued to develop as Eclipse shared bills with local artists such as Colors, Jon Schmidt, Peter Breinholt, and Kurt Bestor.
In September 2001, Olympic Ceremonies Director Kenny Ortega selected the group for a featured slot in the Opening Ceremonies of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games. That appearance generated further engagements, including a highlighted role in the Closing Ceremonies and multiple Medals Plaza sets that opened for Brooks & Dunn, Nelly Furtado, and Train.
Soon after the Olympics, Eclipse joined Larry King and Toby Keith as featured guests at the Stadium of Fire, the annual Fourth of July event held at BYU’s Cougar Stadium.
Their second album, Think Twice, appeared in October 2002. The same year, the ensemble also won the Rocky Mountain Regional Harmony Sweepstakes.
