Ed Case

Born Edwin Makromallis in London, England, this prominent UK garage DJ developed his passion for dance music during the late 1980s through initial visits to illegal raves and warehouse parties. His background includes stints in hardcore and drum ‘n’ bass venues, yet he established his reputation within the emerging garage movement toward the end of the 1990s. A stint hosting on the pirate station Freek FM preceded a string of underground successes, among them the club staple ‘Something In Your Eyes’. Mainstream recognition arrived in 2001 via a dancehall reinterpretation of Gorillaz’s ‘Clint Eastwood’. That same year saw the release of his eclectic compilation Sound Of The Pirates 2, showcasing MCs including Sweetie Irie, Ms. Dynamite, Melody, and Spee. Featuring fifteen vocal collaborators such as ex-Skunk Anansie singer Skin, Republica’s Saffron, Ms. Dynamite, and So Solid Crew’s Harvey, his first album Ed’s Guest List marked his studio entry. He also operates the Killer Instinct imprint.
