Biography
Born in Dublin, Eire, Deane first gained notice in the mid-1960s as a blues guitarist and singer. Although he usually favors a left-handed guitar, he readily handles the standard right-handed model either inverted or played in conventional fashion. His instrumental range reaches well beyond guitar to include lap steel, mandolin, keyboards, bazouki, and classical guitar, with occasional forays on tin whistle and Irish low whistle.
Over the years he has shared stages and sessions with saxophonist and harmonica player Eamonn Murray, keyboardist James Delaney, bassists Chris Mayfield and Javier Garcia, and drummers Fran Byrne and Chris Hunt. Touring credits include bills topped by B.B. King, Frankie Miller, and Terry Woods, while recording appearances encompass work with Miller, Dana Gillespie, Dave Kelly, Graham Parker, and Bob Pearce.
Despite decades in the business, Deane waited until 2006 to issue his first album under his own name, a set that features the songs ‘Love The Way You Do’, ‘There’s A Man Goin’ Round’, ‘Palm Tree Strut’, ‘High Desert Blues’, ‘Winter Star’, and ‘Lost In Paradise’.
