Biography
Ed O.G., born Edward Anderson, delivered the resonant single "Be a Father to Your Child" on his 1991 album Life of a Kid in the Ghetto. The track urged parental accountability with greater impact than the familiar partisan arguments exchanged by commentators on either side of the political spectrum. Life of a Kid in the Ghetto offered a stark yet stirring portrait of urban existence, shaped by strong production and performances that captured both the hardships and the quiet victories of endurance without sensationalizing or softening either aspect. Its 1993 successor Roxbury 02119 proved less arresting overall, yet it still surpassed numerous heavily promoted rap projects released that year.
