Biography
Having performed for over four decades in District of Columbia bars and clubs, Eddie Daye earned veteran status within the Washington, D.C. blues community. Recognition first arrived in the 1950s when he led the vocal group the Good Time Band, which included his wife Denise. As leader of the Four Bars, he supplied the house band for Gee's 400 Club in Brentwood, MD, and for Chuck & Billie's in Washington, D.C. Ownership of the Showboat Lounge in the District of Columbia followed during the late '60s and early '70s. Although numerous albums, several of them gospel, appeared on his own Dayco label, the single containing his best-known original blues tune, "Sexy Senior Citizen," waited until January 1998 for release. Daye passed away in August 2009 at the age of 79.
