Eddie Ruth Bradford, a Southern gospel performer nominated for Stellar Awards, began singing in church settings during childhood. Early on she performed alongside the Bradford Family gospel vocal group, yet she later set music aside while attending Delta State University in her home state of Mississippi, completing a master’s degree, and establishing a career as a nurse practitioner. A guest appearance at her grandmother’s funeral drew such encouragement that she decided to record a demo. Soul legend Frederick Knight then placed her on the Juana imprint, which Malaco distributed, resulting in the 2003 album Too Close to the Mirror and the 2006 follow-up Saved by Grace; each project earned Stellar Award nominations. After those releases Bradford operated independently, issuing Reflections in 2009, Jesus Is Coming Back in 2010, and Blessed to Be a Blessing in 2013. Subsequent standalone tracks included the 2014 single “Gonna Tell the World About You” and “Sweet Beulah Land” from 2017.
